Setting manageable Goals

laundry pile

As you can imagine, sometimes keeping my home clean can seem like an overwhelming task. I am not sure about you but, there is so much to do, I am not sure I will ever get it done.

So, this is what I have been working on.I wanted to keep my kitchen counters clean. I really, really wanted my counters clean. 🙂

So, I did my other cleaning but I always started and ended with the counters. After a week, I was able to keep my counters clean every. single. day. WooHoo! It made me feel so good. I felt accomplished and dare I say proud of my accomplishment.
Simple I know but, so important to me.
When I felt like I was doing good and could maintain the clean counters, I worked on keeping the living and family room clean. After that, I worked on laundry. Laundry? you might ask. Yes. I do about 6 loads a day. So, I worked on keeping them off of my living room couch. Almost every day, I wash, dry and get the laundry put away.
My point is not to gloat or pat myself on the back (although it does feel great!). It is to let you know
when we have challenges or need to set some goals,we can complete them a little at a time.
Too often, we don’t allow ourselves the opportunity to complete our goals. We either set unrealistic goals that are impossible to achieve.
Or, we don’t allow ourselves enough time to complete them.
So, with any goals give yourself some time to complete them. Set small attainable goals.
Goals that will make you make you happy. They can seem silly to some, like my countertops. But, I love walking into my kitchen and seeing
that I accomplished something visible.
What are some things you are going to work on? What matters to you?

Love you kenice! xoxox I was just thinking how my house is generally clean until someone comes and visits. Yuck! It seems like it is never clean when people are over.

Thank you Shannon for all of your help. It isn’t easy to juggle everything is it? With you always food blogging I am not sure counters could ever be clean. You do an amazing job at so many things. Thank you for all of the help and encouragement you provide.

I’m so happy to be reading this today. Last night we just all sat at the table and set individual and family goals for the month of May…. Making and achieving goals is hard. Thanks for the encouragement! (And the reminder to try to tackle the mountain of laundry at foot of my bed….)

Yeah, I can never keep your house clean when I’m there. I always hope for forgiveness. 😉

For me? It’s dishes. They have to be in the dishwasher, or rinsed and stacked so they’re ready to go in the dishwasher when it’s available. That’s my goal. I have it down fairly well, it might be time to add another goal…

My house is fine. That is NEVER what I think/worry about. It is always the kids and that is where the focus should be. 🙂 What is your next item to tackle?
