Yesterday, we had a couple of really cool experiences.
First, our daughter Aleceeya drove from her home in Washington to our home. She surprised the whole family by planning a Skype conversation. While the Skype was being set up, she came in the front door. Everyone was super excited to see her. It was a pretty big deal.
Second, John had to go and do a consultation last night. John works for the Utah Foster Care Foundation (learn more about foster care at http://utahfostercare.org) part of his job is going to talk to families who have expressed an interest in doing foster care.
Yep, you guessed it a deer.
Well, the car wasn’t driveable so he called to ask me to come and pick him up. It was pretty fun actually. I was able to call our son Josh (who owns a house on the next block) who without any hesitation came with me to pick him up.
On our way out there, we joked that wouldn’t it be funny (not really) if we hit a deer and we were both stuck in the middle of a really rural area. Well, as we were driving….we almost sideswiped a moose!! It was running down the middle of the street. Its appeared to be slightly taller than our trailblazer. Boy, that got the adrenaline pumping. Josh’s reaction was hilarious, I am still chuckling today.
Well, needless to say, everyone is safe. No one was harmed except the deer. Poor thing.
The end result, the volt is going back to the repair shop after we just got it back following an accident in which someone backed into our parked car.
What I am most thankful for is John’s safety. He has had a few close calls in the last month. He was driving down the highway with Josh and an L shaped piece of metal came flying up and hit the grill of the trailblazer shattering it but somhow missed the windshield (it was coming directly for it then dipped into the front of the car). The deer also hit the hood…and flew up and over the car not touching the windshield at all.
I sure don’t believe in luck but I do believe in blessings. I can clearly see the Lords Hand in protecting him. I guess everyone was taking me really serious when I told him he had better not leave me alone to raise all of these kids by myself!! 😉
