I just wanted to share a few tender moments that we have experienced yesterday and this morning.
First, you might need to know after several years of issues…Katie finally had surgery on a gland in her neck/ear area. So, I have been sitting up at the hospital with her for most of the day and I spent the night. (It is Awesome to be a mom). I really get a better appreciation for motherhood during times like these. (Although, I don’t like the pain my children have to suffer through.)
So, there were many amazing moments while we have been here. We have had many more than this, but I don’t feel they are mine to share. The moments I wanted to share are all from her siblings.
- Elijah (7)- asked after school, how is Katie? Is she hurting? After dad assured him she was fine, his reply ” I wish I was the one in the hospital” Why, asked Dad “because then Katie wouldn’t be hurting.”
- Zeke (6)- wrote a cute little note that says “Katie feel okay, I love you ZEKE.”
- Peanut (5)- she saw Katie crying and told her ” you can have my purse full of candy if you want. I don’t want you to be sad.”
- All of her siblings coming to visit after school or work. they really showed an amazing amount of love for their little or big sister.
- Kodey (her oldest sister)-she took the day off of work to come and sit with Katie. Why? you might ask. Well, Katie told her she was nervous and wanted to see her. (Awe!)
- Josh and Courtney (next oldest)-they came after work. When they found out Katie might have to stay another night, Josh called his boos and took the day off. The reason? So, his sister wouldn’t have to be at the hospital by herself while mom teaches and dad is with the littles.
You can’t make up moments like this. It is times like this that make up for all of the hard times we endure. My children have become siblings in every sense of the word. They get frustrated with each other, pick fights and trash talk but, when push comes to shove they are there for each other. They love each other.
We have made many mistakes as parents. We would like a do over in so many instances. We are so thankful, however, for the opportunity to bring children into our family. We know they will struggle. We endure the hard parts. We get frustrated, angry and overwhelmed.
You have made your parents beyond proud. You have exemplified all of the principles you have learned over the course of your life. My heart is overwhelmed with love and appreciation for each of my children. Thank you for allowing me to witness such beautiful moments.
However, we are a family. We are an eternal family. We are “of one heart and one mind, united in all things.”
Moments. They are what we live for.
Sending our love to the Thill tribe for ALL your moments!
This is beautiful Cayce. You and John are an example to all. Love to your little Katie and her amazing family. 😘💕
